Redneck Comics to unleash groundbreaking new concept-series!
The creators at Redneck Comics are gearing up to make history with their latest series, FILIBUSTER, which will be an experience unlike any previous comic series ever to exist.
“FILIBUSTER was a vision that appeared to me in a dream,” explains co-writer Scott A. Williams, “Which is where most of my work is done, because I normally find it impossible to concentrate if I’m awake.”
In the series, a mega-crossover of Redneck’s biggest stars, a massive explosion kills a hundred thousand innocent civilians, which leads the United States senate to propose a non-binding resolution to ban unauthorized hero activity, making many heroes into outlaws! You’ll never know who’s on the side of good and who’s on this side of evil in this series.
“In this type of scenario, a guy like [Sewerman villain] Mr. Nazzi could be a good guy to the government,” explains a hyperactive Eric Williams, co-writer of the series, “He probably won’t, but wouldn’t that really be something!”
Standing in the way of the proposed Superpowers Are Bad And
They Oughtta Use Registration (SABATOUR) Bill is Senator Philip Buster, whose
role as central character will be to continue to stall for time until the bill
expires.
“This is going to be some really hard hitting stuff,” says Scott, drooling with glee as he considers it, “Phil will have to keep talking and talking and talking until finally the time limit is reached and everyone has to go home and propose the bill another day. It’s going to be difficult.”
Eric says what he likes best about the character is his realistic moral standards. “He’s a young independent politician who is doing what he believes is right, not only because he wants to protect the heroes, but also because they have a lobby group influencing him. He’s someone you can look up to.”
Aiding Buster in his attempt to exploit this minor quirk in democracy will be Redneck’s latest new superpowered sensation.
“The Sensational 7 and Sewerman will all be making appearances,” Eric Williams assures readers, “But the new hero will indeed be the star, or co-star, of the series, and fans will love him. They will be lining up around the block to read his adventures, and he will sell many coffee mugs with his likeness on it. He is an unstoppable merchandising machine, and that will make him a great hero.”
The new hero, Potato Pancake (see illustration) will have
all the powers that name implies. He will appear alongside the Senator Buster
character to offer moral support in this difficult time.
“And he’s going to steal the fucking show,” Scott explains.
In order to properly depict this explosive talking action, the Williamses made a decision on how the comic will be presented.
“It will be a daily comic,” Scott explains, “Every day for 26 days, a new 22-page issue of FILLIBUSTER will be released, in full colour, online on our website.”
To anybody who doubts that writer/artist Scott A. Williams can accomplish this feat, he aims to prove them wrong. Despite his record of taking 5 years to finish the initial 12 comics in Redneck’s library, he remains optimistic.
“I’ve been known for Bryan Hitch-level slowness, sure,” he sighs, “But you know, the key is to give yourself time to get ahead of the work, and we’re not launching this book until Wednesday, so I’ll probably be way ahead of schedule by then.”
The real-time series is something both creators are excited about.
“I haven’t slept in weeks since we came up with this,” Eric explains, “And I’ve literally been peeing my pants ever since… figuratively.”
The first issue of the series is set to appear on Redneck’s
website Wednesday, April 4, and finish its 26-issue run by April 30, with a
special double-sized issue where, they explain, “Everyone goes home… or do
they?”
Potato Pancake will start appearing in three of his own series this fall: THE EXTREME ADVENTURES OF POTATO PANCAKE, POTATO PANCAKE: HERO TO ALL and HOT CHICKS LOVE POTATO PANCAKE.
